Is engineering education meeting the
challenges of tomorrow?
Mechanical engineers are expected to tackle some of the world’s most urgent challenges, from climate change to sustainable energy, in providing resilient infrastructure and supply chains while keeping us safe. In this rapidly changing world, industry expectations are changing – but are the routes into engineering keeping pace? Today’s aspiring engineers have diverse ambitions, backgrounds and values, different learning styles and behaviours. Are we, as engineering educators, equipping them with the skills, adaptability and resilience they need to make an impact and continuously evolve in a complex world?
Join this open and interactive event, bringing together IMechE’s Engineering Educators Community with national policy experts and industry experts to discuss:
How well prepared are today’s graduates, apprentices and technicians for their careers in mechanical engineering?
How can educators and industry work together in preparing the best future engineers?
The outputs of the event will inform IMechE activities and policy in support of the Engineering Educators community and influencing the national education landscape.
The day will include an opportunity to tour some of the world-leading research and education facilities at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick.
